About Me
Since teenage years I have enjoyed using my imagination by experimenting with musical composition. I have also played various instruments over the years and have played in various types of ensemble.
Having two orchestral compositions recorded by the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra in 2016 was one of my proudest achievements, and having a piece premiered at the London New Wind Festival in 2022 was another big moment.
Since 2011, I have played saxophone and completed an ARSM performance only diploma for alto saxophone in 2020. I now mostly play alto saxophone, and have enjoyed performing with the AD Concert Band since 2019. I have also played tenor saxophone both with the AD Concert Band and with the Jones Jazz Orchestra from 2023 to 2025.
In the past I have played violin, and played with the South Birmingham Sinfonia between 2004 and 2008. My last concert with SBS took place at Birmingham Town Hall.
Another exciting musical experience was attending Dartington International Summer School which I have visited several times between 2005 and 2011, playing in various orchestras, chamber music groups and a large jazz ensemble. I enjoyed meeting many fine musicians at Dartington, and was also introduced to a lot of interesting and unfamiliar repertoire.
I’ve studied one music module “Musicians at work – From Composition to Performance” with the Open University, as part of an ‘open degree’ in 2008.
After retiring from my IT career, I hoped I would have sufficient time and energy to fully pursue my musical interests, but actually there is never enough time!
