Welcome to the music website of Steve Marlow (aka Steve David Marlow).
I am an enthusiastic amateur saxophonist and composer.
Below are a few examples of my composition projects.
Details and recording for more of my music can be found on compositions page.
In the summer of 2016, two of my orchestral compositions (‘The Citadel’ and ‘A Mystery’) were recorded for Ablaze records, played by the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Mikel Toms. Please click on the link to here these recordings.
I am honoured that a special oboe version of ‘An Autumn Day‘ was premiered at the London New Wind Festival on 1st October 2022 – the performance was given by oboist Catherine Pluygers and pianist Dr Sasha Valeri Millwood. I am also very grateful that the Alto Saxophone version has been recorded by saxophonist Nick Philips, with piano part performed by Oscar Espinoza, and more recently a version for alto flute and piano has been recorded by flautist Victoria Heath (using the same pre-recorded piano accompaniment as the earlier version). Both recordings can be heard here.
‘A Midsummer Night‘ is one of my newest compositions. There are now three versions, one for French Horn and Piano, one for Tenor Saxophone and Piano, and more recently one for Bass Flute and Piano. There are recordings of each version, performed by Emily Joy (French Horn), Victoria Heath (Bass Flute) and myself (Tenor Saxophone), all with piano accompaniment pre-recorded by Brian Barber. All three recordings can be heard here.
