An Autumn Day

An Autumn Day

“An Autumn Day” is a piece for solo instrument and piano, lasting about 4 minutes and in three distinct sections which depict three different aspects of Autumn. The piece was originally written during lockdown, for also saxophone and piano.

I am honoured that a special version of the piece for oboe and piano was premiered at the London New Wind Festival on 1st October 2022. The performance was given by oboist Catherine Pluygers and pianist Dr Sasha Valeri Millwood. The event involved a series of recitals involving a range of musicians and composers and took place at ‘The Warehouse’ in Waterloo.

I’m also delighted that different versions of the piece have been recorded, first by saxophonist Nick Phillips with a piano backing track previously recorded by pianist Oscar Espinoza, and more recently by Victoria Heath playing alto flute (also with the same piano backing track). You can listen to both recordings below.

First, this is the original version for alto saxophone and piano, performed by Nick Philips, with pre-recorded piano accompaniment performed by Oscar Espinoza:

Secondly, below is a slightly modified and more recent version for alto flute and piano, performed by Victoria Heath (also with with pre-recorded piano accompaniment performed by Oscar Espinoza):

Note: Other performances by Victoria Heath can be found here

I have also written versions adapted to suite other featured other instruments. Please contact me if you would like to perform this music.
